Seven wineries in the Brindisi area — Cantina Botrugno, Cantine Risveglio, Masseria Incantalupi, Masseria Masciullo, Tenuta Bellamarina, Tenute Lu Spada, and Tenute Rubino — have formed an association aimed at developing wine tourism along the “Regina Viarum,” the ancient Appian Way, through the “Appia Wine Road” project.
The initiative was created to overcome the fragmentation of the local offering and to build a network among wineries that differ in size, history, and market positioning, turning each one’s unique characteristics into a shared value. The goal is to strengthen the region’s wine identity and make it more competitive by offering an integrated system that brings together wine, landscape, culture, and hospitality.
Planned actions include the development of coordinated tourism experiences among the wineries, the creation of a shared calendar of events from July to September, and the relaunch of Brindisi’s image as a wine tourism destination. A key element is also the city’s return to the national “Città del Vino” network, which it had left in the past.
The project has already received support from local and regional institutions, with both the Municipality and the Region of Puglia expressing their willingness to collaborate in promoting shared initiatives and development paths. The ultimate aim is to attract new tourist flows and build a territorial development strategy based on quality, sustainability, and the enhancement of local productions.
